Sensitron demonstrated the cost effectiveness of its telemedicine system at the 10th Annual ÂMedicine Meets Virtual Reality (MMVR) conference. The system demonstration consisted of Bluetooth enabled instruments for blood pressure, weight, and oxygen saturation communicating wirelessly to a Bluetooth access point connected to a laptop. The software included screens for customizing the patient profile, displaying the data including the history, as well as disease management screens.

At the request of Dr. Richard Satava, a very well known surgeon at Yale Medical Center, and a senior S & T advisor to the U. S. ArmyÂs Telemedicine & Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), Sensitron demonstrated the cost effectiveness of its telemedicine system at the 10th Annual ÂMedicine Meets Virtual Reality (MMVR) conference on January 23, 2002 in Newport Beach, California. The system demonstration consisted of Bluetooth enabled instruments for blood pressure, weight, and oxygen saturation communicating wirelessly to a Bluetooth access point connected to a laptop. The software included screens for customizing the patient profile, displaying the data including the history, as well as disease management screens.
Sensitron, Inc. is a development company preparing for beta deployment of their system which uses Bluetooth wireless connectivity for inexpensive patient monitoring of vital functions (pulse, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygenation, weight, temperature, and blood glucose, etc.), combined with a centralized (web-based) disease management system to provide an end-to-end solution. This system can be expanded to include additional instruments without redesign. Sensitron uses FDA cleared monitors, which have been Bluetooth, enabled and integrated in the platform, and is currently working on integration of FDA cleared ECGs and respirometers in the system.
The software for operating the devices as well as the knowledge-based engine, are fully functional and tested. The software has been architected to deliver the functions needed by nursing staff to improve efficiency. Sensitron has identified three sites in the San Francisco Bay Area to start trials within the next two months and are currently working with four hospital chains for implementation in the latter half of the year.
Sensitron has filed applications for five patents covering Sensitron Proprietary Protocol.
