Do you like comic books or video games? Do you know who Cthulhu and H.P. Lovecraft are? If so then you will definitely get a lot of the jokes in this film. I was a bit hesitant after I saw the trailer to pick this up on dvd but something inside was telling me to give it a try. I'm glad I listened because this movie surpassed my expectations. Cthulhu is set to rise again and enslave all of mankind but not if our heroes Jeff and Charlie stop cthulhu's killer cult from obtaining the last relic piece that they need. Jeff is given this artifact and informed that he is the last living relative of H.P Lovecraft. Which leads these two on a journey to keep the relic safe while being chased down by Cthulhu's minions and followers. It is a low budget film but I think that they did a great job with what they had. The make-up is done well and the cgi is a little cheesy but it fits in with the film and its humor. The other characters in the film like Paul who is a Cthulu fanboy and Captain Olaf who once fought off these creatures add to the comedy of the story. Again though it does help if you like these types of fanboy comedy horror movies to fully enjoy this film.
