Elaine Stritch Final Engagement at Cafe Carlyle

NYC 4-2-13: Elaine Stritch plays her final engagement at the Cafe Carlyle, "Elaine Stritch at the Carlyle: Movin' Over and Out" with celebrities in attendance Tom Hanks, Tony Bennett, Michael Feinstein, Bernadette Peters, Martin Short and Liza Minnelli.

Elaine Stritch, who is moving from the Big Apple to Michigan after 71 years in New York, has created a cabaret clamor with her shows at the Cafe Carlyle, a short ride downstairs from her residence for the past 10 years, Room 308, at the Upper East Side hotel. Stritch fans are offering thousands to get tickets to the 100-seat venue for the shows which began tonight. The 88-year old, husky-voiced "Octogenarian Eloise" is moving to her home state of Michigan and says "I loved being on Broadway, but performing has become exhausting, and I just don't want to live in New York anymore."
