Following the impressive buzz track "More Than You'll Ever Know" and decent dance chart topper "Kiss Me Quick", the young artist is moving forward with his second official single, the heartfelt "Over And Over Again".
Giving his best Sam Smith impression, Sykes showcases his emotional side on "Over And Over Again", a somber, piano-driven ballad that highlights the artist's solid vocal abilities. Released on October 18, the artist's latest release differs greatly from the suave, jazz styling of his previous single, and while the supporting piano is a main reason for the new song's critical praise, the production only aids in strengthening a powerful, convincing performance from Sykes.
Besides Sykes' shining, award-winning vocal delivery, the single's sincere and honest songwriting will help create a connection with lovesick teenagers and the artist's devoted fan base. When The Wanted announced their hiatus (nicer word for disbandment), many knew of Sykes' desire to keep moving forward. "Over And Over Again" needs no gimmicky, radio-friendly beats, just a talented artist, sitting at the piano, using real emotion to convey a love story that can stand the test of time. The new single deserves to be a hit, and keeps Sykes on the radar of every major critic and publication.
UPDATE (01/15/2016): While updates on Nathan Sykes' debut solo album have been scarce recently, it seems the artist is ready to promote the upcoming project again in the new year. A remix of his most recent single, the piano-driven "Over and Over Again", just dropped, featuring the vocals of pop princess Ariana Grande. The two artists have collaborated before, on "Almost Is Never Enough" off Grande's debut album, so the pairing doesn't come off as too much of a surprise. Thoughts on the reworked single?
