Hurrah! It's Fringe time! It's great to see Dublin getting ready for the usual fun and frolics that come with Dublin Fringe. Even though the amazing Macnas has been cancelled (weather conditions - you know, this storm and all) and we have to go without, there is still quite a bit to get excited about! Such as Pret-a-Mediatiser! I've included the blurb from the website below as they can do a much better job then I can at explaining it!!!For more info try fringefest.com
Prêt-à-médiatiser
Fashion spectacle extraordinaire, this new production plays with the rhetoric of live performance in a post-digital, mediatised world. When live events are designed to be filtered via TV, online networks and other forms of media distribution, what affect does this have on production and our relationship to ‘real stuff’?
Taking the classic ‘runway’ format as a site for exploration, the event showcases a clothing collection that has been made to be documented which consequently struggles to cope with a live scenario. We are invited to observe ritualistic elements of fashion that have been deconstructed and re-staged to highlight the symbiotic relationship between the live and the mediatised.
